South Coast Medical provides facilities to general practitioners who are dedicated to providing quality patient care to their patients. South Coast Medical also provide training facilities for medical students and doctors specialising in general practice through Melbourne Universities and associated training organisations.
A number of independent medical practitioners consult from South Coast Medical clinics. South Coast Medical have provided medical care facilities to practitioners for over 40 years.

Dr. Damian Flanagan - MBBS Dip RACOGDamian has been working on the Mornington Peninsula since 1988, consulting from South Coast since 1990. Bernie and Damian have 5 children, all raised on the Peninsula with 3 still residing on the Peninsula, one in Sydney and one in Canada. Damian enjoys adventures, whether it be hiking, walking or cycling, ideally with family and friends. He still feels he has a few high mountains left to conquer, but nothing over 6000 metres. He recently started open water swimming in 2016, completing many of the iconic Peninsula swims, but is very unlikley to do the rip swim. His other interests include the slow pace of gardening, socialising with friends and getting away from time to time on holidays that are planned and active. Medical interests really are whatever walks in the my surgery door, however lately has become more focused on wellness strategies, recently completing a masters in wellness. Dr. Neil Stitt - MBBS FRACGPDr. Neil Stitt is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). Dr. Stitt has a special interest in palliative care and minor skin procedures. Dr. Nishant Balakrishnan - MBBS BmedSc FRACGP Dip Surgical AnatomyDr. Nish graduated from Melbourne University in 2008 and did his subsequent years at the Austin and Northern Hospitals in various fields. Dr. John Liu - FRACGPDr. John Liu graduated from Monash University in 2013. Since then he has lived and worked in many locations throughout Australia. The majority of his work has been with Monash Medical Centre before travelling to Mt Gambier, Ipswich and Sale, working as a locum doctor. He enjoys all aspects of general practice. Dr. Mandar Gokhale - MBBS, FRAGCPDr. Mandar Gokhale graduated in 1993 from the University of Melbourne and has worked on the Peninsula ever since. He joined South Coast Medical in 1997. Dr. Gokhale enjoys all aspects of general practice, with a particular interest in Geriatric Medicine. His special hobbies include oil painting, photography and theatre. Dr. Hazel Addison - MBChB, MRCGP (merit), FRACGP, DFFP, DCHDr. Hazel Addison trained in the UK and Australia, moving here permanently in 2013. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) with a special interest in skin cancer medicine and surgery. She holds certificates in skin cancer medicine and surgery and is working towards a masters of skin cancer medicine. She also practices in all other areas of general practice and believes in evidence based wholistic care. Outside of work she is busy with her family and 3 dogs, and is a keen runner and violinist - playing with both the Frankston Symphony Orchestra and the Peninsula Chamber Musicians. A fee will be charged for late cancellation of appointments within an hour of the appointment time as well as non attendance of an appointment. Dr. Gregory Ward - MBBSDr. Greg Ward graduated from University of Melbourne in 1976. After working two years in hospitals and a year doing a mixture of surgery and General Practice, Dr. Ward commenced working full-time in General Practice in Heathmont in January 1980. After caring for the local community for more than 36 years he was finally able to fulfil his dream to make a “sea change” and moved to the Peninsula. Greg enjoys all parts of General Practice. Dr. Simon Pilbrow - MB BS PhD FRACGPDr. Pilbrow was born in Oxford UK, but has lived in Melbourne for most of his life. He graduated from Monash University in 1985. After hospital years at the Alfred Hospital, he spent four years 1988-1991 in colon cancer research at Monash University Department of Biochemistry, completing a PhD in 1993. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 1996. His medical interests are within the full range of family general practice, including skin cancer and enjoys seeing patients of all ages. He enjoys working with his colleagues and staff. Dr. Pilbrow was also involved in the post-bushfire medical clinic at Kinglake after Black Saturday. For five years was guest GP on a community radio health program. He is married with two adult sons and his interests include music, playing jazz piano, reading, gardening, jogging and spending time with his grandchildren. Dr. Alex Romain - BSc, MBBS, MRes, FRNZCGP, PGDipMSMDr. Alex Romain is from London where he graduated from King's College in 2012. He has worked as a GP since 2018 and enjoys all aspects of the role. Dr. Romain has a special interest in diabetes, chronic illness, men's health, the elderly and cancer. He has a certificate in general dermatology and further training in dermatoscopy, skin cancer medicine and skin cancer surgery. Alex completed a diploma of musculoskeletal medicine in 2023. Dr. Romain began consulting from South Coast Medical clinics in February 2024 after having spent seven years in New Zealand where he enjoyed hiking and being outdoors. Dr. Tarak (Taz) Akkireddi - GP RegistrarDr. Taz is a GP registrar with dual qualifications in both medicine and physiotherapy. After initially completing his medical training in Western Australia, Dr. Taz has since gone on to work around Australia including NT, Qld and NSW. He has now settled in Melbourne to be closer to his one true love - the Carlton Football Club. Dr. Taz has a special interest in sports medicine, orthopaedics, lifestyle medicine and travel medicine.
