South Coast Medical provides facilities to general practitioners who are dedicated to providing quality patient care to their patients. South Coast Medical also provide training facilities for medical students and doctors specialising in general practice through Melbourne Universities and associated training organisations.
A number of independent medical practitioners consult from South Coast Medical clinics. South Coast Medical have provided medical care facilities to practitioners for over 40 years.
Dr. Damian Flanagan - MBBS Dip RACOGDamian has been working on the Mornington Peninsula since 1988, consulting from South Coast since 1990. Bernie and Damian have 5 children, all raised on the Peninsula with 3 still residing on the Peninsula, one in Sydney and one in Canada. Damian enjoys adventures, whether it be hiking, walking or cycling, ideally with family and friends. He still feels he has a few high mountains left to conquer, but nothing over 6000 metres. He recently started open water swimming in 2016, completing many of the iconic Peninsula swims, but is very unlikley to do the rip swim. His other interests include the slow pace of gardening, socialising with friends and getting away from time to time on holidays that are planned and active. Medical interests really are whatever walks in the my surgery door, however lately has become more focused on wellness strategies, recently completing a masters in wellness. Dr. Hazel Addison - MBChB, MRCGP (merit), FRACGP, DFFP, DCHDr. Hazel Addison trained in the UK and Australia, moving here permanently in 2013. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) with a special interest in skin cancer medicine and surgery. She holds certificates in skin cancer medicine and surgery and is working towards a masters of skin cancer medicine. She also practices in all other areas of general practice and believes in evidence based wholistic care. Outside of work she is busy with her family and 3 dogs, and is a keen runner and violinist - playing with both the Frankston Symphony Orchestra and the Peninsula Chamber Musicians. Dr. Mark McLean - MB BS DRACOG FRACGP DipRGPDr. Mark McLean graduated from Monash University in 1989 and has post graduate qualifications in rural medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). He has lived and worked on the Southern Peninsula for a number of years and has established his family life here. Outside of work he is a very keen cyclist and golfer . He and his wife were involved with running and coaching a number of Basketball teams for the local area and their children. Dr. Alex Romain - BSc, MBBS, MRes, FRNZCGP, PGDipMSMDr. Alex Romain is from London where he graduated from King's College in 2012. He has worked as a GP since 2018 and enjoys all aspects of the role. Dr. Romain has a special interest in diabetes, chronic illness, men's health, the elderly and cancer. He has a certificate in general dermatology and further training in dermatoscopy, skin cancer medicine and skin cancer surgery. Alex completed a diploma of musculoskeletal medicine in 2023. Dr. Romain began consulting from South Coast Medical clinics in February 2024 after having spent seven years in New Zealand where he enjoyed hiking and being outdoors. Dr. Tarak (Taz) Akkireddi - GP RegistrarDr. Taz is a GP registrar with dual qualifications in both medicine and physiotherapy. After initially completing his medical training in Western Australia, Dr. Taz has since gone on to work around Australia including NT, Qld and NSW. He has now settled in Melbourne to be closer to his one true love - the Carlton Football Club. Dr. Taz has a special interest in sports medicine, orthopaedics, lifestyle medicine and travel medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys keeping fit(ish), travelling and watching AFL. Dr. Taz consults at the Rye Clinic.
